Transactis Appoints Jonathan Wood as Chief Operating Officer

NEW YORK, NY – May 1, 2020 – Transactis, a Mastercard company and leading billing and payment solutions provider, announced the addition of Jonathan Wood to its executive team as he takes on the role of Chief Operating Officer.

An accomplished payments executive at Mastercard, Wood will transition from his current role, running UK sales for Mastercard’s New Payment Platforms (“NPP”) division, to oversee Transactis’ sales, marketing and product groups. Mastercard acquired Transactis in 2019 to transform and accelerate the growth of its bill payment services. Wood’s move across the organization will support the integration of the business’ go-to-market strategies.

“We are thrilled to add Jon to our leadership team at Transactis,” said Joe Proto, Transactis’ CEO. “As we continue to accelerate our core business growth, Jon will help us maximize our full potential in North America while broadening our reach to international bill payment markets. Jon’s 22 years in the banking and payments industries, alongside his experience at Mastercard and his deep understanding of Transactis’ core markets, will help us significantly grow our electronic billing and payment business as well as scale Mastercard Bill Pay Exchange.”

During his career with Mastercard, Wood has helped to successfully build, launch and grow the Pay by Bank app digital billing and payment business at Vocalink, the company behind the UK’s real-time payment, batch payment and check image clearing services, the network of 60,000 ATMs and also the provider of payment services in Sweden, Singapore, Thailand and the US.

For Mastercard’s UK, Ireland, Nordics & Baltics division, Wood was responsible for accelerating growth across additional channels and major customers. Most recently, Wood worked for the NPP division of Mastercard leading all UK sales activity, which includes Mastercard’s real-time payments and Open Banking solutions.

Wood held leadership positions as General Manager for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia at American Express, Managing Director for the small business segment at Barclays Bank, Vice President for Prepaid at Western Union, and he launched his own digital payments consulting firm working on assignments in Europe, South Africa, Kenya and Ghana.

Wood added, “Transactis is a fantastic business with outstanding people that under Joe’s leadership has been transforming the world of billing and payment processing, serving customers with a passion for excellence and supporting businesses with innovative, digital-by-default technology. I am honored and excited to be joining the team as we grow the business and pursue new opportunities as a part of Mastercard, to serve customers with our truly transformational suite of solutions. Paying bills matters to every one of us, every day. It’s so inspiring to join this great company as we work to make that experience a better one, for everyone, everywhere. ”
